mandalas is a photo that has been cropped and placed in a circle, this creates a sort of a pattern. I took my photo and the mandala template and used the magic wand tool and dragged a piece of the circle and cropped my photo with it. I would then use the move tool to place the piece in the template. Then I would duplicate that layer and transform them to fit another. Then I would merge those layers then duplicate that layer and continuously use it to fill in other pieces of the template. When I was done I merged all the layers and saved as a photoshop file and a jpeg. I like looking at the before and after photos. It was cool to look at the before photo and see how much it changed. My favorite photo was the last one because it made stars in the design. I struggled with getting the hang of it. Once I figured it out it became easy. If I had to do it over again I would choose different parts of the photo to see how the same photo but a different part could look so different.
A tessellation is a picture that has been repeated and it creates a pattern. I took the photo and cropped it to the size I wanted, and make sure it was square. Then I created a template if I was doing one that was 2 inches I would put guides that were 2 4 and 6 inches apart and I would make sure my photo was 2 inches by 2 inches. I would then take the picture and put it into the top left hand square. Then I would go to layer and duplicate the layer. I would continue to do this until the template was full. I think my favorite was the tessellation with the rings because they look like bug eyes. If I had to do it again I would crop some of the photos more to make the tessellation completely different.
